In grade two/three this year we will be learning about the following:
Bible: Old Testament focusing especially on Exodus and Prophets until Christmas. After Christmas – Jesus’ teachings, esp. The Lord’s Prayer, Easter, the Early Church, and God’s Promises/Revelation
Language Arts: broken into Reading, Writing, Word Study, and Speaking. We will use a variety of instructional/learning activities including Guided Reading, Centres, Author/Genre Studies, Writing both fiction and non-fiction, Spelling, Sounds Around Town, Fun With Words, and Teach Us, Please.
Math: We’ll start with Number Sense and Operations (Place Value, Rounding, Addition/Subtraction, Multiplication/Division. Then we’ll move onto Algebraic Thinking, Measurement, Money, Fractions, Geometry, and Probability/Statistics while continuing to review our Number Sense and Operations.
Themes (Socials and Sciences): Main themes will include a study of Canada’s provinces and territories, pioneers, the local government, space, structures, and plants.
