Our Kindergarten and Grade 1 curriculum helps students learn through play and hands-on activities.
Bible - Overview of the Old Testament and the Life of Christ through stories, dramatization, audio-visual media, and personal application.
Language Arts - Students will be learning/reviewing the alphabet, phonetic sounds, and rhyming/word families. Students will also participate in Guided Reading, Writer’s Workshop, Author Study and Sight Word programs as well as a variety of literacy center and group activities.
Math - Students will develop number sense through exploration and direct instruction of numbers. Students will be introduced to addition and subtraction through games and problem-solving situations. Patterning, measurement, sorting and identifying shapes will also be studied.
Science and Social Studies - Our themes include: God Made Me Special; Apples; Seasons with the Cedar; Magnets and Life at the Poles; My Family Tree; On the Move: Forces , Motion and Transportation; My Community and Mapping; Pond Life.
